London, 3 June 2014: Innovative switchgear manufacturer, Havells has recently supplied 18 of its unique MID approved Tri-Load metering boards to Skanska for their latest development in the City of London, 100 Cheapside.
This ten storey speculative commercial and retail development is a joint venture between CarVal, Orion and The City of London, with Quadrant Estates acting as the Development Manager. The completion for the project is targeted for the second half of 2014.
Hilson Moran was appointed to design the building services, provide sustainability services, with the building targeting BREEAM Excellent and LEED platinum levels. As part of these high standards for sustainability, the electrical distribution equipment needed to be flexible to work with the energy management system so the end-user can easily understand and monitor the energy usage in the building, in accordance with Part L2 of the Building Regulations. In addition, the size constraints in the building risers offered meant that a size efficient distribution solution was required.
The project team also includes EPR Architects, Second London Wall as Project Managers. Quantem Consulting LLP as Cost Consultants and Waterman in the role of Structural Engineers.
Lee Oram, Project Engineer, Skanska, “By installing two MID approved Tri-Load boards per floor in 100 Cheapside, we’ve conveniently future-proofed the building for clear energy management Billing and reduced the number of separate metered boards we needed to install.”
Lee continues “The unique Tri-load properties of separating the energy usage of mechanical services, lighting and power gives great granular data combined with the additional MID meter where the client can legally bill the exact energy usage of the tenant. Tri-Load employs Modbus communications so they easily integrated into the Trend building management system being used on 100 heapside.”
The electrical contractors used on site were Cordell Southern Technical Services Limited,George Wright, Construction Manager said “From an installation view, all the metering was pre-wired so I treated it like a standard TPN board install. The side gland plates next to each section are a nice touch and made the installation of outgoing cabling quick and simple.”;
